MPE Insight is a standalone desktop application that connects to any class-compliant MPE controller and displays its output in real time. Rather than trusting that a controller and instrument are communicating correctly, players can watch each per-note channel update live: pitch bend curves, pressure and aftertouch values, and the third-dimension "slide" or timbral expression parameter that MPE instruments use for filter sweeps, vibrato, or morphing.
The app includes multiple visualization views, a recording function for capturing a performance's MPE data for later study, and a built-in MIDI monitor for lower-level troubleshooting. That combination makes it useful in a few different situations: diagnosing why a patch isn't responding the way it should, understanding how much pressure or slide range a controller is actually capable of producing, or simply learning what a technique like a slow finger roll looks like in data form before trying to reproduce it on a different controller.
Why a tool like this matters right now
MPE remains a layered standard. A controller, a DAW's MIDI routing, and an instrument all have to agree on per-note channel assignments, pitch bend range, and which continuous controllers carry pressure and slide data. Those problems are notoriously hard to diagnose by ear alone.
